Jojutlas has been an instant favorite of mine, but their service takes a little getting used to. Gary Hulett is the Vice President of Operations at Jojutlas. Every time I've been in the restaurant, he's always there. Gary seems to have high standards as every staff person I've interacted with has been exceptionally nice. Mr. VP always remembers our names and asks how our family is, how a trip went, etc. He's a very likeable guy. The restaurant is closed on Sundays because Gary is very religious. He uses the word "glorious" enough times in a sentence to make a very good drinking game out of the situation. There are also some religious pamphlets strewn about the restaurant. So what is Jojutlas like on the inside? It's kind of like Chipotle in that it's industrial-hip. The walls are either black or teal and the seating is very minimal. There are two televisions so you can watch the Food Network as you're being serenaded with modern hits and eating your food. Some people are turned off by the strange way they serve you. Let's walk through the typical ordering process to avoid confusion. Once you're in the door, there's either a staff member or Gary with a smile on their face asking you if it's your first time at Jojutlas. To the left is a cooler with drinks and Jarritos as well as a soda fountain. I recommend the Jarritos. They're mexican sodas that are pretty difficult to find this far north of the border. They're made with sugar and all natural flavors. Look at the label on the back. There isn't an ingredient you can't recognize. The problem is that Jarritos come in glass bottles that need a bottle opener. This is why staff members generally take your drinks, so they can open them for you and sit them at a table. Now in front of you is a Chipotle-style cafeteria line-up. A staff member will ask you what you'd like. I'd recommend the quesadillas or a burrito bowl to start off with. Keep in mind that Jojutlas serves giant portions. One $7 quesadilla can serve two, and if you're by yourself, I'd recommend something lighter like a burrito bowl. Some items on the menu require the grill to be used in the back. You generally don't get to customize your order like a burrito, but you can usually just pay and sit down. You don't have to go through all the waiting as they bring the food out to you. Jojutlas makes their own tortillas. After you tell them what you want to eat, they'll ask you what kind of tortilla you want it on, if it's applicable. (you don't get a tortilla with a burrito bowl or mexican salad.) I'd recommend the jalapeno cheese. It's not spicy, more of a cheese flavor than the jalapeno. Just as they do at Chipotle, they'll walk you down the line, cafeteria-style. In this order: "Would you like lime-cilantro rice, or mexican rice?" "What kind of meat would you like?" "Black beans or pinto?" "How about cheese, lettuce and pico de gallo?" "Mild, medium or hot sauce?" "Corn salsa?" You also have the option of adding sour cream and guacamole. The guacamole costs more if you have meat on your plate, but it's free if you opt-out on the meat. They finish your order off with a sprinkle of cilantro, but only after asking you first. By the time your server has finished your food, you're at the cash register. Jojutlas has an Amigo's Club, which I recommend if you frequent the restaurant. After 8 or 10 meals, you get a free one. Jojutlas also hands out so many "free chips and salsa" coupons that we haven't paid for ours in probably 6 months. I'd also recommend asking your server for spicy cheese or guacamole with your chips. After you've paid, the server will ask you to sit down where your drinks were placed earlier and that your food will be out in a minute. If you didn't notice before, they prepare your food on a 12-inch pizza plate. If they served them straight from the pizza plates, they wouldn't be able to fit on the tiny tables. Give them a minutes to transfer your food to a different plate or in the case of a quesadilla, to allow it to finish cooking. A staff member will come by with your food within the next three minutes, depending on what your ordered. On each table are several sets of silverware and cloth napkins. Be careful with the quesadillas and burritos as the food tends to fall out the sides. Probably more than once, a staff member will walk by and ask how your meal is. As you finish up your meal and begin to leave, a staff member will thank you for stopping by and wish you a good day. Don't worry about cleaning up after yourself, the staff takes care of the dishes and silverware after you leave. I hope that might have cleared up any confusion as to why Jojutlas' service is the way it is. As for the food itself, the portions are huge. So while you're pay $7 for a burrito, you're getting $7 worth of burrito. As I've stated before, Jojutlas makes their own tortillas and prepares everything fresh. Bottom Line: amazing service, lots of food, quality, "Chipotle-but-better."

Very clean and bright; the owner obviously runs a tight ship here. The ordering and delivery process was a little odd, but I suppose you'd get used to it. I ordered the special chile relleno and it was delicious. The pepper itself was as fresh and tasty as I have ever had... it's rare to get a chile relleno around here that hasn't been frozen... and the filling was very flavorful. The texture of the filling was a little awkward, but the flavor got me past it. The side of pinto beans were SO GOOD. Smoky and smooth... I would come back just for more of those beans. My son had a chicken quesadilla that was also very, very good and the chips were fresh and crispy. Great crowd of regulars too... everyone was greeting each other, and the owner too. I love that. I will definitely be back to try some other items off of the menu.

During a recent visit, I had a ground sirlion burrito, with the cheddar jalapino tortilla. Being a fan of Chipotle, and hearing good things about Jujultas, I was excited to try it, but found the set up very odd. First, please decide if this is going to be fast food or casual dining, one or the other, there is nothing worse than having to leave a tip for service prior to having had your meal, and is very awkward to your customers, who wonder how much should I tip in advance? What is your server going to do for me? What if the service is bad after I leave a 20% tip? What if the server thinks my tip is too small, will it effect my service? There is a reason when you have table service, you pay at the end of the meal people. With that rant ouf ot the way, I will say, the service was very good and friendly, our food arrived quickly (actually was at the counter when we paid, but they still took it to our table). Now for the food portion of the meal, my burrito simply lacked flavor, the beef used seemed as if it was not seasoned in any way, kinda like they forgot to add seasoning to it while cooking, not one hint of a Mexican flavor to it, more like some plain fried ground beef. The size of the item was good, but in this market (casual fast burritos) it is customary for them to be very large (Chipotle / Quedoba) and this was on par with them for size, but flavor and price the competitors would take them hands down.Whle I understand their price point is higher due to the way they run their service ($7.99 for a ground beef burriot vs Chiptole for $6.99 for steak) please make up your mind, are you a casual dining place or a fast food place...in the real world this comes off as fast food with casual dining prices and not the other way around, as if I am already paying higher prices for the menu item, don't expect a tip,or don't make me stand in line to order it if want one. Overall, it was a bland, confusing dinner.

I love the clean atmosphere and friendly staff. Has the feel of a high end casual place. The location is great for me, and I would love for this place to be a "go to'... I am a big fan of fish tacos but I found them to be lacking in flavor. It was more sweet than spicy. The prices were a bit higher than I'd typically think for a place like this as well. However, several of my friends think I'm nuts (on many levels) and this place is actually quite good. I will read more of the reviews, and give them a chance by ordering something better. I think its 2.5 stars, but that wasn't an option.

Excellent authentic Mexican food; a bit daunting for the newbie. Spicy and good. Cold area with not enough seats but helpful staff. Order at counter; they bring food.

Good food, good service. I can understand how others could find the process confusing but I just went with the flow. My wife totally LOVES the fish tacos.

Good fish tacos. Observed neighboring diners food and it looked appealing. This is a Chipotal style self-serve restaurant. Will write again after I try other selections.

Went here with my boss because he wanted to try it. I probably won't go back again. The whole service thing is very confusing- you have a server I think? You order at the counter and they ask you what you want to drink (there was a drink machine so we assumed we got our own drink. Wrong). While you watch them make your food they kind of look at you like "why are you still standing here?". Well if someone told me what to do then I would do it. Once they finish your food they tell you they will bring your food to you. Well it's done so why can't I just take it? And where is my drink? So we walk around not knowing what to do. Finally we saw what appeared to be our drinks outside so we sat down. I guess the server person set them there? The "server" brought us our food and that was it. When I needed a refill I wasn't sure if I was supposed to get it myself or wait for the young lady to come back around? As you can see the service thing needs some direction. Tell your guests where to go and what to do because if they haven't been here before then they are clueless. And do we have a half server or what because we didn't know if we should tip her or not. As you can see there a lot of question marks because I'm still confused about the whole thing. For the food- I just ordered a chicken burrito and it was just okay because it didn't have much flavor. It wasn't anything special at all and it was pretty small. I left there still hungry and it doesn't take me anymore to get full than the average person. I feel like they're trying to be a different kind of chipotle. Either way I would save your money, go to chipotle, or a real Mexican restaurant. Not worth the time or confusion.

I just happened to find this eatery by chance while I was taking a friend to the movies. What a cool atmosphere. The food, excellent! I ordered the fish tacos with jicama slaw and their Mexican mashed potatoes.....it's making my mouth water just thinking about it now. One if the cooks let us try their blue cheese guacamole.....it was divine. Their prices are reasonable (I ate for 10 bucks) . Well worth the stop if you are in North Canton, you won't be disappointed:)

The headlining fish tacos were strangely bland, with too much jicama and a jicama produce sticker (extra fiber?) You know at first bite whether a place has ''it'' and IMHO Jojutlas is young and ambitious and still learning. I personally prefer food that tastes like grandmas cooked it, so trendier tastebuds may find JJs to their liking. I applaud their abundant fresh ingredients. To be honest, I've been spoiled by Rubio's (CA and AZ) because I love their fresh, cheap fish, shrimp and lobster tacos and crazy salsa fresca bar.

Nice little place, clean and organized... Fish tacos were dissaponting, though.. too sweet..the combination of the corn tortilla, jicama relish/slaw and some sort of sweet (thousand island type) sauce on top of breaded fish was a bit much. It needed something acidic to cut all of that..maybe offer a non breaded fish, and top with some lime and cilantro instead? We went because my employer had listed a "perk" , where if you mention the company and show your badge, you get one free entree w/the purchase of a second. The manager on duty the night we were there hadnt heard of it, so it wasnt honored. Next time we'll probably just go to Samanthas nearby.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
